In light of today’s Sagittarius New Moon on December 1, 2024, this is a powerful time to reignite the spark and passion for life! Something I deeply connect with on my healing journey. With the added layer of a Sagittarius Mercury retrograde, I’m inspired to reflect on how best to navigate this unique energy. My hope is that this blog not only shares my perspective but also helps you harness the New Moon’s transformative energy in a way that feels both productive and healing.
Mercury, the ruler of Gemini and Virgo, is currently in its detriment in the sign of Sagittarius. What does this mean? Mercury is the planet of communication, technology, thinking, adapatibility. It influences our personal decision-making, reasoning, the details, commuting, local transportation and organizations. Sagittarius is Jupiter-ruled. Jupiter deals with similar ideals but on a much wider scale. Long-distance travel, broad perspectives, higher education, faith, global community.
The list goes on. But what is clear to see is how Mercury and Jupiter are not on the same wavelength. Mercury in Sagittarius brings uncertainty, and sometimes, miscommunication. This transit challenges us to bridge the gap between focusing on the details and looking at the bigger picture.
It’s like trying to navigate life while wearing glasses that are slightly out of prescription—things are a bit blurry, but you can still make your way if you’re careful and open-minded.
I've been feeling this energy heavily. With jumpstarting my blog at the busiest time of the year, comes uncertainty and interal challenges for me. Yesterday, I found myself caught up in all of the small details (Mercury) and how it would affect the big picture (Sagittarius). Will I ever reach my intended audience? Which ties into, will I be successful? If I don't reach my targeted audience, will my blog fade in the end?
For me, this energy feels like a reminder to slow down and reflect. Realize that life is a journey. Where we are today is going to be a huge difference from where we end up. Slow down. This is a retrograde, which adds another layer, pushing us to revisit old patterns, conversations, and choices. It's a time to refine what you have set in motion.
A time for asking questions like: Am I walking a path that aligns with my truth? Have I been communicating my needs effectively? Are my plans grounded in reality, or are they just lofty dreams? And don't be discouraged, just tweak what needs to be refined.
This cosmic combination has been a teacher in my own journey. As someone who's navigating healing and self-discovery, I’ve learned that clarity doesn’t come from rushing or forcing answers. Instead, it comes from pausing to understand what fuels my spark. Sagittarius is about passion and purpose, and Mercury retrograde reminds me to recalibrate that compass by reflecting on my past experiences.
For example, this transit has nudged me to rethink how I approach relationships and communication. Sometimes, I’ve been guilty of over-explaining or trying too hard to make others see things my way (hello, Mercury’s influence). But under this energy, I’m learning to trust that not every conversation needs a perfect resolution right away. It’s okay to embrace the journey of understanding, even if the destination is unclear.
So, how do we handle this energy practically? Here are a few tips that have helped me:
- Practice mindful communication. Double-check your messages, emails, and even verbal commitments. With Mercury retrograde, it’s easy for wires to get crossed, so don’t be afraid to repeat yourself or ask for clarification.
- Revisit old plans. This is an excellent time to go back to that unfinished project or re-evaluate a decision you’ve been putting off. Sagittarius energy encourages growth, but Mercury retrograde suggests taking a step back to ensure your foundation is solid.
- Lean into self-reflection. Journaling, meditating, or even having deep conversations with trusted people can help you process the themes of this transit. What lessons from your past can guide you forward?
- Embrace flexibility. Sagittarius loves adventure, and Mercury retrograde loves throwing curveballs. Plans may change, and things may not go as expected. Use this as an opportunity to practice adaptability and creative problem-solving.
As we move through this Sagittarius New Moon and Mercury retrograde, I encourage you to find your spark in the small moments. Healing, like navigating uncertain astrological energy, isn’t linear—it’s about staying curious, compassionate, and open to the journey. Much love, xoxo.
